Context
Home OS is a homeownership operating system for households with real complexity: maintenance cycles, aging systems, renovation spending, documents, service providers, and property-equity context. The product is built around a simple idea: a home should have an operating layer that makes upkeep, decisions, and records visible before they become stressful.
Problem
Most home management lives across memory, texts, email threads, receipts, calendars, and one-off reminders. Important work gets noticed late, vendor context disappears, renovation costs are hard to reconstruct, and owners rarely have a single read on what is aging, what is due, and what the home is worth. The need is not another checklist; it is a calm operating system for homeownership.
Your Role
- Led product strategy and operating-model design
- Designed the Home Overview, Maintenance, Improvements, Renovation Ledger, Services, Systems, Documents, and Equity layers
- Built dashboard, reminder, provider, record, and ledger patterns for recurring household decisions
- Connected product logic, interface design, and rollout framing into one homeowner-facing experience
Approach
I framed Home OS around visibility, cadence, and confidence. The system separates evergreen home records from recurring actions: systems and documents stay stable, maintenance tasks recur, renovation costs attach to projects and rooms, preferred providers remain easy to find, and equity signals help owners understand the larger financial picture.
The interface model is intentionally quiet. It gives homeowners a single read on what needs attention, what is scheduled, what has been spent, which providers are trusted, and what should be planned before the next season.
Outcome
Prototype. The app now has a coherent product surface across overview, maintenance, improvements, renovation ledger, services, systems, documents, and equity. Next milestone: refine real household workflows around recurring maintenance, service history, document capture, provider recommendations, and annual planning.
